Microsoft Outlook 2010

Open Microsoft Outlook 2010.


At the top of the window, click on the 'File' tab. With 'Info' highlighted in the left column, click on the 'Account Settings' button and then select the 'Account Settings...' pop up.

Be sure you're looking at the 'E-mail' tab within the Account settings window.

Note: If you have more than one email account set up in Outlook 2010, select the existing (@hopitelecom.net) account.

Click the 'Change' button within the 'Email' tab.

Review and update your settings as outlined below.


  • Your Name: Ensure this field is populated with Your Full Name as you would like it to appear in your outgoing email messages.
  • E-mail Address: Replace your username with your full primery email address e.g. username@hopitelecom.net.
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): Replace with: pop.gmail.com
    IMPORTANT: If your Outlook is showing Incoming mail server (IMAP): (instead of POP3), change the setting to: imap.gmail.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Replace with smtp.gmail.com
  • User Name: Replace with your full @hopitelecom.net email address username@hopitelecom.net
  • Password: Your email password should remain the same.

Once you have made the above settings, click on the 'More Settings...' button.

Outgoing Server

Click the 'Outgoing Server' tab at the top of the screen.


Put a checkmark in 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' and make sure that the dot is in 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server'.

Advanced

Click on the 'Advanced' tab at the top.


Make sure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot.


Place a check mark under This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) for both the Incomming server and Outgoing server.
Your Server Port Numbers, should appear as shown, with 995 for Incoming server (POP3), and 465 for Outgoing server (SMTP).
IMPORTANT: If your incoming server settings show IMAP instead of POP3, use port 993.

Click the 'OK', 'Next' and then 'Finish' buttons and now you should be able to send and receive email.
