Outlook:mac 2011

Open Outlook 2011 (Typically found in the system tray, or in Finder under Applications/Microsoft Office 2011.

Click 'Outlook' on the Apple OS Menu Bar and then click 'Preferences...'.

NOTE: Alternatively you can press the Command Key + the Comma Key (,).

This will bring up 'Outlook Preferences'.

Click the 'Accounts' icon to open the Accounts configuration page.

Select your email account from the list of accounts in the left column. Once your account is selected change the settings as outlined below.

IMPORTANT: Please take note of the type of account you have as indicated in the screenshot by the red box. Your 'Incoming Server' settings are slightly different depending if you are using a POP or an IMAP account (more information is below under 'Incoming Server').


  • Full Name - Enter your full first and last name as you would like to appear in your sent email messages.
  • Email Address - This needs to be your full @hopitelecom.net email address. E.g. username@hopitelecom.net.
  • User name - This needs to be your full @hopitelecom.net email address. E.g. username@hopitelecom.net.
  • Password - You shouldn't need to change this settings as your password for this account should be the same..
  • Incoming server - If you are using an IMAP Account (as noted in the screenshot by the red box), enter imap.gmail.com and if you are using a POP account enter pop.gmail.com

    Important: Be sure to put a check next to 'Use SSL to connect'.

  • Outgoing server Enter smtp.gmail.com

    Important: Be sure to put a check next to 'Use SSL to connect' as well as 'Override default port'. Once the checks are in place you are able to modify the Outgoing server number: please change it from 25 to 465.

  • More Options - Once these settings are complete, click on 'More Options...'.

In the 'Settings for: smtp.gmail.com' window, Select 'Use Incoming Server Info' from the Authentication: drop down menu.

Click OK then close the Accounts window.
