Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.7

Open Mozilla Thunderbird.

Click on the 'Tools' menu and then click 'Account Settings...'.

This will bring up the 'Account Settings' with the 'Local Folders' category selected. Click on the email account listed in the left hand list.

Make sure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot.

The following are the most important:

  • Your Name: Replace with your name as you would like it to appear in your outgoing email
  • Email Address: Replace with your full @peak.org email address. E.g. username@peak.org

Please note: The 'Reply-to Address' is not necessary because if it is not specified, the reply will go to the 'EMail Address' listed. Only use this if you want your email responses sent to a different address.

Once complete, click on the 'Server Settings' sub-category on the left to continue.

This screen displays your server settings.

Please update your settings as outlined below:

  • Server Name: Replace with: pop.gmail.com
  • User Name: Replace with your full @peak.org email address. E.g. username@peak.org
  • Use secure connection (SSL): Ensure there is a check mark next to 'Use secure connection (SSL).
  • Check for new messages every _ minutes: Change this setting to 15 (minutes).

Once you have completed these settings, click on the 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' sub-category on the left pane to continue.

The settings for your outgoing mail server (SMTP) are shown here. Make sure that your settings match the instructions below:

  • Server Name: Replace with smtp.gmail.com
  • Use name and password: Make sure this box is checked.
  • User Name: Replace with your full @peak.org email address. E.g. username@peak.org
  • Use secure connection: Ensure that the dot is in the 'SSL' section.

Click 'OK' to return to the Thunderbird application and now you should be able to send and receive email.
