Central Office Supervisor (Full-time)

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

General Summary:
Supervises all Central Office department and remote switching unit operations, including acceptance testing of new equipment, ensuring that subscriber loops are properly connected and maintained, and directing daily checks of toll, extended area service (EAS), and other types of trunks. Conducts traffic studies, reviews equipment trouble records, prepares specifications for new equipment, and makes periodic maintenance and progress reports to General Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures continuous operation of Central Office and remote switching facilities and associated equipment by overseeing maintenance of existing equipment, and installation and acceptance testing of new equipment. Directs daily checks of toll, extended area service (EAS), and other types of trunks. Reviews switch status reports and recommends areas for improvement.
  • Supervises the Central Office by assigning work, checking quality of work, answering questions, handling personnel issues, and monitoring work flow to ensure timely completion of central office activities.
  • Reviews equipment trouble records and ensures that problems and issues are resolved.
  • Prepares specifications for new equipment and oversees any changes or upgrades to switches. Ensures upgrades and changes are completed in a manner with least negative impact service.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience: 

Associate’s degree in engineering or equivalent plus three to five years experience in Central Office operations.

Central Office Technician (Full-time)

Oversees all Central Office and remote switching unit operations, including acceptance testing of new equipment, ensuring that subscriber loops are properly connected and maintained, and directing daily checks of toll, extended area service (EAS), and other types of trunks. Reports to Central Office Supervisor.

Key System/Central Office Technician

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

General Summary:

Responsible for providing various technical services to include the installation, testing, repair, maintenance, and day-to-day technical support of new and existing communications systems (telephone, key systems, DSL, Special Circuits, etc.) and related telecommunications cabling and wiring infrastructure within our service area. 

Essential Job Functions

▪ Assist in the development and implementation of customer training for basic Key System programming. Assist in the marketing and selling of Key System equipment and Maintenance Agreements.
▪ Testing and troubleshooting Digital and Softswitch equipment. Set up and troubleshoot Dial Tone, DSL, and Special Circuits. Test and troubleshoot Microwave Radio, BLC, DLC, ISP equipment.
▪ Maintain DC Power and Standby power equipment. Test and troubleshoot customer PC and Network setups and equipment.
▪ Complete all assigned work in a timely and professional manner. Gather information and complete reports as assigned. Maintain inventory of assigned tools and equipment, complete Inventory and Equipment Issuance forms and reports.
▪ Interface with customers in a professional manner. Maintain professional attitude and appearance.
▪ Participate in rotating On-Call duties.
▪ Accept and complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.*
